HCM Youth Hunts

All of our hunts are conducted through local licensed outfitters, in some cases HCM will be the outfitter. These hunts are fully outfitted meaning food and lodging, in most cases, is provided. A guide who is familiar with the land boundaries and animal patterns is provided for each father and hunter (son/daughter).

To Qualify

To qualify the hunter must be ages 12-17 and have completed a Colorado approved Hunter Safety Course before applying for the big game tag with Colorado Parks and Wildlife. The hunter must not have participated in a previous HCM hunt.

How to Apply

Please complete the Youth Hunt Application form when it becomes available on January 1st 12:00am (the form will be offline and not available until then). Our hunts are filled on a first-come, first-served basis for qualifying applicants and based upon the number of openings our outfitters have. These hunts fill up VERY quickly! For our 2014 hunt season our antelope and deer slots were filled in only 9 minutes! We use the date/time stamp on the email to determine the order of first-come, first-served. So plan to ring in the New Year by applying for your hunt!

Cost

In order to cover the costs associated with HCM hunts there is a cost of $300. Payment of this fee is required to confirm a spot on one of our hunts. The cost covers: food, lodging (in many instances) and access to the ranch. All other costs: travel, licenses, game processing, etc. are not covered. How do we receive payment? A check via Snail Mail works. We also use PayPal. To pay by PayPal go to our Hunt Payment page.

Scholarships

While $300 is an extremely low cost for a fully guided and outfitted hunt we recognize that this may simply be too high for some. Please don’t let this discourage you from applying. We have donors who want to help those who need a little extra help. When completing the application there is a check box which will allow you to indicate whether or not a scholarship is needed.

Hunter Safety Information

Colorado honors hunter education courses from other states and provinces.

What Happens After You Apply

After we have received a sufficient number of applications, beginning January 1st at midnight, the application form will be removed. Then HCM will begin the process of ensuring that each applicant meets the qualifications. Once the hunters have been selected all applicants will be notified of their status.
